Why do men burn cars?

I love this little country called Northern Ireland but it is a country with a complicated and blood smeared history. Over the past few days we have seen more rioting as police removed sectarian flags from the street and locals responded by hijacking cars, burning them out, blocking off roads and generally causing trouble. This blog is not judging the motives or the actions of those involved but as I walked past the burnt out car at the top of my street the thought entered my mind.. why do men burn out cars?

Every country has this problem to some extent. The politics and the motivations may be different but we see men the world over willing to take the streets, take up arms and fight for a cause. All men need a cause and all men have something inside them that will allow them to rise up and fight when they feel the time and the need has arrived. Actually its a God given attribute but like so many good good qualities men tend to apply it in the wrong directions.

The Bible says that “from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force”.

God has a job for each and every man who has ever been born- to advance the Kingdom of God. It is not for the weak willed or the lily livered. It is a struggle and a constant battle. When I see men with scarves tied around the faces throwing a petrol bomb at the police- whatever country they are from- whatever religion they choose to follow- I see lost potential. I dont judge even though I may disagree.

I see a potential David taking down Goliath with a few smooth pebbles. I see Joshua circling the city of Jericho. I see men who have the potential to be violent for the Kingdom of God.

Of course this violence is not to be carried out by sword, by gun or by petrol bomb.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”.

Pray for these men because when God gets a hold of them they can be revolutionaries for Jesus. They can be Holy Ghost fire starters.

Are you a man of Violence? The Lord is calling you to serve in HIS army.

“from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force”.
